When renting out an apartment or a home, most landlords require a deposit equal to at least one month's rent. This way, if they have to fix anything with the tenants leave - like a hole in the wall or a floor ruined by water being left on - they can use the deposit to cover those costs. Many landlords also ask tenants to leave the place clean when they move out, and if not, they'll put some of the deposit towards paying to have it cleaned.
Well one renter named Matilda made sure to clean up after herself when she moved out of her apartment, yet she still didn't get her full deposit back, and the reasons why are so shocking that she made a video about them and shared it on TikTok.
In the video, Matilda includes the photos her landlord presumably sent her showing the "issues" she left behind. The clip begins with the text, "Rating the reasons we're not getting our full deposit back." Matilda then puts up a picture of a single pea left in the freezer, giving it a 6 out of 10, saying, "Must have been hard to clean that up." Next is an image of a bottle of Febreze that was left on the floor. To that, she writes, "4/10 maybe they didn't like the smell."
She shows a dehumidifier in the hallway and notes, "The dehumidifier that belongs to them that they didn't pick up all year 7/10 you're right that's our fault babes." The next shot is of a small piece of paper on the floor. It says, "9/10 - he must have needed a whole cleaning crew to sort that out." The final shot is too blurry to make out so Matilda only wrote, "Don't even know what this is supposed to be. ???/10."
